Three arrested over alleged lynching of Liberian national in Sakumono
The Sakumono District Police Command has arrested three persons in connection with the alleged lynching of a 26-year-old Liberian national, Austin Tengeeh, at Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspects, currently in police custody, have been identified as Francis Amuzu, 44; William Adison, 36; and Vincent Adzikah, 34.
According to a police situational report, the Sakumono District Patrol Team received a distress call from an unidentified individual on February 27, 2026, indicating that a man had been attacked and severely beaten by a group of irate persons near the offices of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at Lashibi.
Upon receiving the report, officers proceeded swiftly to the scene. On arrival, they found the victim lying unconscious with visible marks of assault around his neck and head.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the mob allegedly mistook the deceased for a thief.
The victim was immediately conveyed to the Sakumono Community Hospital for urgent medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body has since been deposited at the facility’s morgue as the necessary diplomatic protocols are followed, given his nationality.
Meanwhile, the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team from the National Police Headquarters has launched a manhunt for other suspects believed to have conspired with the three arrested individuals in the attack.
Police say investigations are ongoing and assured the public that all persons found culpable will be brought to justice.
