V/R: 3 arrested for unlawfully possessing firearms
A joint police-military patrol team tasked to weed out miscreants within the Ho municipality in the Volta Region has arrested three suspects, namely Doe Kofi, 20; Appiah Joseph, 27; and Yaovi Gideon, 27; for unlawful possession of firearms and other offensive weapons.
The suspects were arrested around Barracks New Town, a suburb of Ho ahead of the New Year.
A search on the suspects revealed a bag containing a foreign pistol (Revolver), club, four whips with wooden handles, a bicycle chain, knife, screwdriver, and one mask.
The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
They will be arraigned as soon as practicable, the Deputy Public Relations Officer, Inspector Prince Dogbatsey has said.
The police command assured the public of its preparedness to combat crime for the safety of all residents in the region and also called on the public to support its efforts by providing timely information that can lead to the arrest of criminals to make the communities safer.
