Some 25 suspects have been arrested in Wa by the Upper West regional police command for besieging the police quarters to demand the release of three suspects being held by the police for flogging two lovers in public.
The 25 suspects were among more than 300 residents who sieged the police on Wednesday night amidst protests, burning of tyres, destruction of street lights and police property.
The irate youth were demanding the release of Bushiran Khadir, 34, a phone repairer; Issahaku Mahama, 70; and Naa Sidiki Osman, 52.
A team of more than 100 police officers, led by regional commander DCOP Peter Ndekugiri, used more than two hours to ward off the irate youth.
