2020 Atta Mills lecture suspended
The Management of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has announced the suspension of the Professor John Evans Atta Mills Commemorative Lecture, which was scheduled to take place at the university this year.
The suspension of the annual lecture is as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and its attendant restrictions on large gatherings.
Prof Atta Mills died on Tuesday, 24 July 2012 while still president of the country.
It was the UCC’s turn to host the event this year, as hosting of the annual event alternates between the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and the UCC.
A statement issued by the UCC and signed by the Deputy Registrar, Retired Major Kofi Baah-Bentum, however, assured the general public that “the ceremony will be activated as soon as things normalise.”
The UCC further apologised for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation of the event.
