The Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) has admonished candidates sitting this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to shun all forms of examination malpractices and misconduct.

In a statement signed by its President, Dr Damascus Tuurosong, GNAPS encouraged the candidates to put in their very best toward attaining success.

The statement described the candidates as "heroes" and "warriors" poised to do battle.

GNAPS expressed hope that the candidates will come out of the BECE smiling with flying colours.

"Do not be cowed by their long stay at home as a result of the coronavirus rather walk boldly into the examination hall knowing that success is your portion," the statement said.

Some 531,674 candidates will be writing the week-long BECE which begins today, Monday, 14 September and ends on Friday, 18 September at 2,007 examination centres across the country.

269,419 of the candidates are males while 262,286 are females
