E/R: Thieves steal roofing sheets and school desks from Akyem Oda Anglican School

Thieves have shockingly made away with all the roofing sheets and metal school desks from the 'B' block of the St. Andrew Anglican Basic School at Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region while the school was on break.
The disturbing incident was revealed by Papa Yaw Amoah, the Assembly Member for the Asene Electoral Area, who expressed disbelief over the extent of the theft.
According to him, the entire roof of the 'B' block was stripped off, and all the metal chairs in the classrooms were also stolen.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Amoah recounted that the ‘A’ block of the school had previously suffered storm damage, leading to its re-roofing by the government.
As a result, pupils who were temporarily relocated to the ‘B’ block had just returned to the newly repaired ‘A’ block.
He said arrangements were underway to refurbish the ‘B’ block, including repainting, to allow pupils to return to the facility.
However, the plan was derailed after it was discovered that thieves had looted the entire roofing and furniture while the school was not in session.
“This is a huge setback for the school and the community,” Mr. Amoah lamented.
“The building is now exposed to the elements, and the ceiling has already suffered water damage.
If nothing is done urgently, the structure will deteriorate further.”
He is urgently appealing to the government, philanthropic individuals, NGOs, and other relevant institutions to come to the school’s aid by helping to re-roof the building and replace the stolen furniture to ensure a safe learning environment for the pupils.
