Free SHS:Only a visionless gov't would implement double-track system-Asiedu-Nketia

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has strongly criticized the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for its implementation of the double-track system under the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
Speaking at a community engagement in Kwapra, a suburb of Suame in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Asiedu Nketia argued that the policy is detrimental to Ghana’s educational system, fostering negative peer influences among students.
“The rationale behind the double-track system can only come from people who refuse to think rationally,” he said, questioning the government’s preparedness to implement the Free SHS policy.
He accused the NPP of failing to add a single block to the infrastructure left by the NDC, resulting in challenges that undermined the policy’s success.
The NDC Chairman attributed rising cases of teenage pregnancies and drug abuse among students to the flawed implementation of the policy.
He also alleged that the NPP is profiting from the food provided to students, claiming that some students are fed the same meal repeatedly over weeks.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia assured that an NDC-led government would review the double-track system to create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
He emphasized the NDC’s commitment to improving education in the country, ensuring it meets the needs of both students and teachers.
