Ho Central MP cuts sod for major infrastructure project at Mawuko Girls SHS
The Member of Parliament for Ho Central Constituency, Richmond Edem Kofi Kpotosu, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving educational infrastructure following a sod-cutting ceremony for a development project at Mawuko Girls Senior High School.
The ceremony, held at the school’s new site at Hosita in Ho, marked the start of construction of a classroom block, restroom facilities, and staff accommodation to expand infrastructure at the all-girls school.
The event was attended by the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Kofi Agbeko; the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Steven Adom; the Headmistress of Mawuko Girls SHS, Rose Cynthia Nyawuto; and other stakeholders in education.
Mr. Kpotosu described the project as a key step in the constituency’s education development agenda. He said it reflects his commitment to improving access to education and strengthening infrastructure, particularly for girls.
He explained that the project is located at the school’s new Hosita campus to accommodate increasing student enrolment at Mawuko Girls SHS each year. He added that it would expand the school’s capacity and help protect the land from encroachment.
He further said the project would support the full use of the new site and provide a foundation for future expansion of the school.
According to him, investment in education, especially girls’ education, remains important for national development, adding that no child should be denied access to education due to infrastructure challenges.
“This project reflects our commitment to empowering young women through education and creating opportunities for a brighter future,” he said.
The MP said he expects the project to improve teaching and learning conditions at Mawuko Girls SHS and support academic performance and student welfare in the municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Steven Adom, pledged support to ensure the project is completed and called for collaboration between the school and stakeholders to advance development.
The Headmistress, Rose Cynthia Nyawuto, thanked the MP for the initiative and said the school management would support its successful completion.
