KNUST students ordered to vacate campus over planned chaos
Students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have been ordered to vacate the campus by mid-day September 18.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) on Wednesday, 15 September 2021, pointing to a planned disturbance on campus on the eve of vacation – September 17.
The statement reminded the students that a 2018 declaration of the KNUST as a security zone is in full force, adding that security will be beefed up on campus to enforce the directive.
The directive, issued by the Regional Minister and Chairman of ARCC, Mr Simon Osei-Mensah, exempted foreign students and those permitted to stay by the school's management for special reasons.
