Kasoa to get experimental basic school in partnership with Ghana Prisons Service

The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly in the Central Region has announced plans to construct an Experimental Full-Fledged Basic School in Kasoa, following the successful acquisition of three acres of land from the Ghana Prisons Service (GPS).
The initiative, described as the first of its kind by any local government authority in the southern belt of Ghana, is aimed at addressing declining standards in discipline and academic performance at the basic school level.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Seth Sabah Serwornoo-Banini, the new school will adopt a unique management structure that places trained professionals from the Ghana Prisons Service and the Ghana Education Service (GES) at the helm, with oversight responsibilities provided by the Municipal Assembly.
Officials explained that the model seeks to instil discipline and strong values at the very foundation of education, while simultaneously ensuring high academic standards.
In addition to the basic school project, discussions are underway for the allocation of more land to establish a Technical Senior High School (SHS), spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Madam Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor.
Municipal authorities say the move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen educational systems in the area and expand opportunities for young people in Kasoa and its surrounding communities.
