Let’s prioritise TVET – First Lady
First lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has said the nation must prioritise areas of opportunities for the youth to enable them to chase after their dreams as part of efforts towards attaining a sustainable Ghana.
The First Lady made the comments in a Facebook post on Tuesday, 15 September 2020.
Announcing her appointment as the principal Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) ambassador, Mrs Akufo-Addo said: “Technical and Vocational Education and Training is critical for the development of our nation’s human resource.”
She noted that: “As a people, we must ensure that the areas of opportunities for the youth to pursue their dreams and aspirations are prioritised as we push towards a sustainable Ghana where there is the availability of jobs and institutions to train our youth for such Jobs.”
Mrs Akufo-Addo also called on Ghanaians to join the government’s effort to promote TVET education in the country.
“I would like to entreat us all to join hands and help promote TVET for the growth and development of Ghana,” she added.
As TVET ambassador, Mrs Akufo-Addo is expected to promote the choice of TVET among the nation’s youth while changing the perception about TVET being negative.
This will help increase the enrolment of Ghanaian youth in Technical and Vocational Institutions.
Mrs Akufo-Addo will be supported in her TVET ambassadorial role by media personalities including broadcast journalist Berla Mundi, Kwame Sefa Kayi and Belinda Addardey.
The others are rapper Okyeame Kwame, actress Martha Ankomah, Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group of Companies, Daniel Mckorley and Founder of Makeup Ghana Rebecca Donkor.
