N/R: NSS person busted for impersonation; fake recruitment of over 80 teachers
A National Service Person, at the Yendi Senior High School, Ziblim Abdul Latif, has appeared before the Tamale Circuit for impersonating the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to recruit over eighty teachers into the service.
The National Service Person was arrested on Tuesday, 15 June 2022.
He was however arraigned on Thursday, 17 June 2022.
The teachers recruited by the suspect were allegedly posted to about 40 basic schools within the Savelugu Municipality.
Each person recruited by the National Service Person is alleged to have paid an amount of GHS5000 to him.
The suspect has been remanded into Police custody and is expected to reappear in court on Tuesday, 5 July 2022.
Confirming the incident to Classfmonline.com, Northern Regional PRO for the GES Frederick Owusu, said: “For now, we’ve called all those who were recruited within the time frame, going through their documents to find out whether we still have more victims to that.”
He noted that the service decided that the Human Resources department will audit persons recruited into the service in the region, this year.
“Those who were genuinely recruited have been asked to go back to continue with their work, while we still deal with those who were victims to his actions.
“What happened was that, there was recruitment so this gentleman took advantage of the recruitment process to also go on with his dubious fake recruitment process.”
