Nsein SHS: Tullow Ghana constructs 500-bed girls’ dormitory
Tullow Ghana on Monday, 21 June 2021, opened a 500-bed girls’ dormitory at Nsein Senior High School in the Western Region.
In 2018, Tullow made a $10 million investment to build senior high school infrastructure in Ghana over five years to support the government’s policy of providing free quality senior high school education for Ghanaian children.
This includes the Nsein Senior High School dormitory.
This also forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility projects.
Speaking as the guest of honour, former Education Minister Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh under whose tenure the project began encouraged Tullow to adopt Nsein SHS and transform it into a model school for STEM.
He also asked them to consider investing more in the TVET sector particularly, the oil and gas sector as part of the country’s local content agenda.
Dr Prempeh noted that Ghana has a youthful, energetic population that can and should be tapped into to develop crucial technical skills to support the budding oil and gas industry.
