The management of Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon in the Greater Accra Region, has issued a strongly worded statement condemning comments attributed to media personality and lawyer Miss Serwaa Amihere, in which she reportedly described the school as “a breeding ground for homosexuals.”

In a press release dated January 17, 2026, the school’s authorities described the remark as false, reckless, and deeply offensive, stressing that it constitutes an unfair generalisation that maligns students and undermines the integrity of the institution.

According to the statement, PRESEC’s management said the comment seeks to attach stigma to the school and misrepresents its long-standing values and mission.

The school emphasised that it is a Presbyterian mission institution founded on firm Christian principles and governed in line with the doctrines of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the laws of the Republic of Ghana.

“For over eight decades, PRESEC has been dedicated to academic excellence, discipline, leadership, and moral formation,” the statement noted, adding that any assertion suggesting otherwise is a gross misrepresentation of the school’s identity and standards.

Management further highlighted the school’s track record of academic and civic excellence, citing its sustained success in national competitions such as the National Science and Maths Quiz, as well as the achievements of its alumni across academia, public service, business, science, and faith-based leadership.

The statement also warned that comments of such nature are not only inaccurate but harmful, as they unfairly label students and expose them to ridicule, prejudice, and emotional harm, while attempting to erode the reputation of an institution that has contributed significantly to national development.

PRESEC reiterated that it would not accept or normalise what it described as defamatory characterisations and assured parents, students, alumni, and the general public of its continued commitment to protecting the dignity of its students and upholding high standards of excellence and character formation.

The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of the school’s core mandate: delivering quality education, enforcing discipline,  shaping character, and preparing young men to become principled leaders and responsible citizens.
