US Embassy: 14k American students studying in Ghana
The US Embassy has revealed the number of American citizens studying in Ghana has grown well beyond 100 per cent.
According to the Ambassador Virginia Palmer, there are “14,000 American students [currently] studying in Ghana”.
She was happy to highlight this after she noted “Ghana now ranks 18th with a total of 9,394 Ghanaians who studied in the United States in 2023-2024 – an increase of 45.2 percent and an all-time record high”.
Ambassador Palmer said gaining international education broadened one’s worldview, as has been her experience studying in Africa.
She added international students had indeed contributed to enlarging the view of the broader world in the minds of Americans, Ghanaians being a prominent contributor.
"In many ways we are the same people," she observed, explaining this had been fostered by immigration activities between Ghana and America’s diaspora.
Ms Palmer spoke at the launch of Education USA’s advisory centre in Osu, Accra, in the Pure Obsession building on the Oxford Street, Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Ambassador Palmer underlined services at the Education USA Advisory Centre was free, helping students prospect schools in America for undergraduate and post-graduate studies, while exploring financial support for same.
Thus, she encouraged Ghanaians to take advantage of the services of Education USA.
