The Minister for Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has assured Ghanaians that the Attorney-General’s Office is following due process in all ongoing prosecutions, stressing that the rights of all accused persons will not be violated under any circumstances. 

Speaking on Metro TV on Friday, October 31, Mr Kwakye Ofosu said the government remains firmly committed to the rule of law and to upholding the constitutional rights of every citizen, irrespective of their political affiliation or social status.

“The Attorney-General’s Office is acting strictly within the bounds of the law,” the Minister stated. 

“Every prosecution currently before the courts has been initiated on the basis of credible evidence and due legal procedure. There is absolutely no attempt to target or persecute anyone for political reasons.”

Mr Kwakye Ofosu further noted that the administration of justice in Ghana must be seen to be fair and transparent, adding that the government would continue to strengthen the independence of state institutions. 

“Our democracy is anchored on justice and accountability.

That means ensuring that people who have questions to answer before the law do so, but also guaranteeing that no one’s rights are trampled upon in the process,” he explained.

He urged the public to have confidence in the judicial process and to resist attempts to politicise legitimate legal actions. 

“We should all trust our justice system to deliver impartial outcomes,” he said. 

“The government’s only interest is to ensure that the law takes its course — fairly, transparently, and without fear or favour.”
