Ten illegal miners, including foreign nationals, have been arrested in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti region.
The galamseyers include foreigners and four Ghanaians.
They were arrested by the anti-galamsey task force team, Operation Halt II, during their operations today, Wednesday, 19 January 2022, in the area
The Operations Officer of the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel Emmanuel Gyadu, told Class News' Elisha Adarkwah that 10 excavators were also demobilised.
He said other implements used for illegal mining activities were also demobilised.
Mr Gyedu said some of the illegal miners have informants and for that reason, some of them took to their heels before the team's arrival.
He advised the galamseyers to stop their operations and get the required documents to operate legally.
