Ghana has successfully concluded the 2025 African Land Forces Summit (ALFS), which brought together military leaders and defence experts from over 50 countries across Africa and beyond.
The summit was co-hosted by the Ghana Army and the United States Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and ran from April 9 to 11 in Accra.
Representing the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Deputy Minister for Defence, Brogya Genfi, delivered the closing address at the summit’s official ceremony on Friday, April 11.
In his remarks, Mr. Genfi described the summit as a pivotal platform for fostering bilateral and multilateral cooperation, enabling African and international partners to engage in critical dialogue on regional and global security threats.
“The summit has laid solid foundations for new defence collaborations and strengthened existing partnerships to tackle our shared security challenges,” he noted.
The African Land Forces Summit 2025 focused on enhancing joint military readiness, improving interoperability among partner nations, and fostering regional security through cooperation, capacity building, and shared strategies.
Delegations participated in panel discussions, field visits, and bilateral meetings aimed at deepening trust and shaping collective responses to transnational threats such as terrorism, piracy, organized crime, and cyber threats.
The Government of Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to regional peace and stability and praised the U.S. and other international partners for their continued support in building resilient and professional land forces across Africa.
