Akufo-Addo addresses Ghanaians tonight
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will address the nation tonight over measures taken against the spread of coronavirus in the country.
The President’s address is scheduled for 8 p.m.
This will be the President's 17th COVID-19 address to the country.
In his 16th address, President Akufo-Addo announced the reopening of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday 1 September 2020.
According to him, passengers arriving in Ghana are expected to possess a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from an accredited laboratory and carried out in not more than 72 hours before the scheduled departure from the country of origin.
Also, passengers disembarking from the aeroplane must undergo a mandatory 30-minute COVID-19 test at the airport terminal, at a fee of $150 to be borne by the passenger.
He also announced the reopening of schools for JHS 2 and SHS 2 students to return to school from 5th October to 14th December 2020 to complete their academic year.
Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed active COVID-19 cases in Ghana has dropped to 499, the latest figures from the Ghana Health Service have indicated.
Some 20 new cases were recently confirmed.
The total number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 45,877.
Of that number, 45,081 have recovered and been discharged.
However, two more patients have succumbed to the virus, taking Ghana’s total death toll to 297.
