Akufo-Addo to hand over 320-unit housing project for Ghana Police Service tomorrow
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is poised to commission a new 320-unit housing project for the Ghana Police Service.
The commissioning will be done on Tuesday, 23 July, 2024, at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra.
This significant project, which began in 2018, includes seven blocks of two-bedroom apartments and thirteen blocks of three-bedroom apartments, each block comprising sixteen units.
Alongside the residential buildings, the development features a multipurpose sports facility, a kindergarten school, and additional auxiliary amenities.
Elvis Adjei-Baah, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works and Housing, emphasised the project’s importance in a press release dated Friday, July 19, 2024.
“The completion and utilisation of this housing project will augment the government’s other housing programmes that are being rolled out to increase the residential stock of public service workers,” he stated.
The Ministry highlighted that the initiative represents a crucial step in enhancing the living conditions of public service workers and addressing the national housing deficit.
“This project will reduce accommodation challenges in our sprawling cities and ultimately bridge the national housing deficit, which stands at 1.8 million housing units,” the release added.
The new housing units are anticipated to greatly improve the welfare of police personnel, offering them essential accommodation and supporting their ability to perform their duties more effectively.
The commissioning ceremony will be attended by senior government officials, members of the Ghana Police Service, and key stakeholders in the housing sector.
