Applicants who present forged visa documents’ll be prosecuted – Foreign Ministry warns Ghanaians
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has cautioned Ghanaians against the submission of forged documents in visa applications.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 16 October 2024, the Ministry emphasised that providing false or fraudulent documents is a criminal offence, punishable under the law.
The Ministry expressed its growing concern over the rise in both deliberate and unintentional submission of fake documents by applicants seeking visa authentication.
These fraudulent documents are often forwarded for processing, undermining the integrity of the system.
"It must be noted that the presentation of forged or fake documents is punishable under sections 158, 159, 166, and 169 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29)," the statement indicated.
"The general public should kindly note that henceforth applicants who present forged documents would be handed over to the police and prosecuted accordingly. Members of the public are hereby to note and comply," the statement warned.
