Attorney-General to justify case discontinuations at press conference today
The move has sparked widespread debate, with critics questioning the legal justification and potential impact on accountability and transparency in governance.
Many argue that withdrawing these cases undermines efforts to uphold the rule of law.
According to the Deputy Spokesperson at the Presidency, Shamima Moslem, the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice will use the platform to address public concerns, outlining the legal basis for discontinuing some cases, withdrawing others, and filing nolle prosequi in prosecutions initiated by the previous government.
Speaking on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5 FM on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Miss Moslem assured that the Attorney-General would provide detailed explanations to ensure clarity on the matter.
The press conference is expected to attract significant interest from legal experts, political analysts, and civil society organizations, as stakeholders seek assurances that due process was followed and justice remains a priority.
