President Nana Akufo-Addo has extended the mandatory wearing of face masks by an additional three months.

The president disclosed that he signed the Executive Instrument to make the wearing of face mask lawful on September 14.

This means until 14 December 2020, it is against the law for any citizen to be seen outside without a face mask, as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

‘The wearing of masks has served us well in the fight against COVID-19,” Nana Akufo-Addo said in his 17th address to the nation on Sunday, 20 September 2020, adding: “Let’s wear our masks and do so correctly anytime we are leaving our homes”.

Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed active COVID-19 cases in Ghana has dropped to 499, the latest figures from the Ghana Health Service have indicated.

Some 20 new cases were recently confirmed.

Of that number, 45,081 have recovered and been discharged.
