Cletus Avoka, campaign team attacked by armed robbers
A former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Zebilla East constituency in the Upper East region, Cletus Avoka and his campaign team have been attacked by armed robbers.
According to Mr Avoka, the incident happened on Thursday night, 29 October 2020 at about 10:30 pm.
Mr Avoka, who is seeking re-election, indicated that the armed men launched the attack at Abuskologa while the team was returning from a tour of Gore, Tetako, Adagbera and Azuwera polling stations.
He explained that the armed robbers were clad in police uniform, disguised as police officers at a checkpoint.
The robbers made away with one of the team members’ motorcycles, mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of money.
However, the former lawmaker was not hurt.
He has lodged a report at the Zebilla Police station.
