DVLA clamps down on fake car plates, licences, other road offences

General News
A joint team from DVLA and MTTD carried out the operation

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has begun a special compliance and enforcement exercise with the MTTD and the media to raise awareness on road offences and prosecute culprits.

The exercise, which began some weeks ago, is to raise awareness on the several road offences some motorists are usually involved in and hand over the culprits to the appropriate quarters for sanctions.

Some of the offences they looked out for were fake or expired drivers’ licence and road worthy documents, fake or embellished number plates, inappropriate tinted glasses, lack of reflectors among others.

Addressing the media after the exercise, the Deputy Director in charge of Driver Training, Testing and Licensing at the DVLA, Mr Joseph Clifford Ogbosu, warned the public to desist from engaging middlemen, popularly known as ‘Goro boys’ for licensing, certificates and number plates.
