David Asamoah appointed Acting MD of ECG

David Asamoah has been named the acting Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) following the resignation of Samuel Dubik Mahama on Wednesday, 25 September 2024.
Mr. Asamoah, formerly the Deputy Managing Director in charge of Commercial Services, will temporarily lead the company until the Government of Ghana, ECG’s sole shareholder, makes a permanent appointment.
The announcement was made by ECG Board Chairman, Alexander Afenyo Markin, signalling a leadership transition for one of the nation’s key utility providers.
Mr. Asamoah's appointment is expected to ensure stability in the company during this critical period.
He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as Sectional Manager of Revenue in charge of Technical Investigation.
Known for his expertise in revenue management and legal matters, he has been instrumental in tackling illegal power connections and has even testified in court against companies found guilty of such violations.
In his acting capacity, Asamoah will oversee ECG’s operations as it continues to address challenges in power distribution while ensuring reliable service delivery to millions of customers nationwide.
His leadership comes at a crucial time as ECG manages the evolving demands of Ghana’s power sector.
