‘Dumsor’ linked to gas supply challenges, says GRIDCo, ECG
The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have issued a public notice addressing the recent power supply disruptions affecting numerous regions across the country.
The agencies have linked these interruptions to issues at the Ghana National Gas Limited Company's (GNGC) Gas Processing Plant in Atuabo, which has resulted in a significant reduction of gas supply necessary for power generation.
In a joint statement, GRIDCo and ECG expressed their sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing outages.
“We apologise unreservedly for the inconveniences caused to the public as a result of this challenge,” the statement said.
The companies reassured the public that GNGC engineers are diligently working to resolve the issue and restore the full gas supply required to stabilise power generation.
"The situation is being closely monitored, and both GRIDCo and ECG are optimistic that normal power supply will resume once the problem at the Atuabo plant is addressed," they statement added.
In light of the disruptions, the agencies urged the public to remain patient as they work to resolve the issue and minimiSe further outages.
Meanwhile, the ECG has also announced a planned maintenance scheduled for Thursday, 26 September 2024, which will impact parts of Accra as they continue to address the situation.
