East Legon community mourns as vigil is held for young victims of car accident
The East Legon community came together on Friday, 18 October 2024, to hold a vigil in memory of two young girls, Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, who tragically lost their lives in a fatal car accident on Saturday, 12 October.
The girls, both students of Cornerstone International Academy, were remembered during a poignant candlelight ceremony at the site of the accident. Family, friends, and community members gathered to pay their respects through prayers, emotional tributes, and moments of silent reflection.
Attendees held candles and flowers, united in grief over the heartbreaking loss of the two promising young lives.
The devastating incident occurred when 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, son of Bishop Salifu Amoako, lost control of a Jaguar SUV (GN 7801-20), colliding with a 4×4 Acura (GR 2542-23) driven by Joseph Ackah.
The collision caused both vehicles to ignite, tragically leaving the occupants of the Acura burned beyond recognition.
Following the accident, Elrad's parents, Bishop Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako, were arrested by police on Tuesday, 15 October but were subsequently released on bail set at GHSS0,000.
