Ejisu by-election: Interdict Gallo and his lawyer - CPP chairperson to C'cil of Elders
Chairperson of the Convention’s People’s Party (CPP), Nana Akosua Frimpomaa has called on the Council of Elders of the party, to take action against the chairman of the party in the Ashanti Region, Emmanuel Gallo and his lawyer, Wayo Ghanamanti.
The CPP chairperson’s call follows what she referred to as the conduct of Mr. Gallo and Lawyer Ghanamanti pertaining to recent events surrounding the recently held Ejisu constituency by-elections.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the CPP, Felix Amoah, the chairperson of the party noted that: Mr. Gallo, initiated legal proceedings against the EC During the preparations for the Ejisu Constituency by-election.
“This action, purportedly on behalf of the CPP, sought to bar the inclusion of our party's candidate in the election. It is important to note that Mr. Gallo was represented by Lawyer Wayo Ghanamanti, who is allegedly vying for the Flagbearer position of the CPP in the upcoming 2024 general elections,” the letter detailed.
The CPP chairperson further noted that the deliberate dissemination of misinformation, by the two, “including labelling Madam Osei as an imposter, has had far-reaching consequences,” impacting the party’s standing not only within the constituency but also within the wider Ashanti Region.
The letter emphasised that: “It is evident that Mr. Gallo and Lawyer Ghanamanti's actions were driven by personal agendas rather than the best interests of the CPP,” citing their “disregard for due process and their willingness to resort to deceitful tactics to further their own ambitions are wholly unacceptable and run counter to the principles and values of our party.”
The CPP chairperson is therefore requesting that the Council of Elders of the party, take immediate action to “interdict “Mr. Gallo and Lawyer Ghanamanti from their respective positions within the party.”
She also urged that the two, be referred to the “Disciplinary Committee for a thorough investigation into their misconduct and appropriate disciplinary measures.”
