The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OBI Roofing System and Technical Training Centre, Nana Kofi Boamah Okai, has called on the public to refrain from dumping refuse into drainage systems, stressing the importance of proper waste management in preventing environmental hazards.

His appeal follows a clean-up exercise organized by the company in commemoration of Ghana’s 68th Independence Anniversary in the Ablekuma North Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

Nana Okai emphasized that indiscriminate waste disposal, especially in gutters and drainage systems, is a major cause of flooding during the rainy season.

He urged Ghanaians to adopt responsible waste disposal habits to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.

Speaking to Accra 100.5 FM's News Correspondent Samuel Kofi Payitey, he reiterated the need for improved hygiene practices, highlighting their long-term benefits for communities.

Some staff members who participated in the clean-up exercise also shared their experiences, emphasizing the role of waste management in fostering a clean and safe environment.

The initiative aligns with broader national efforts to promote sanitation and environmental sustainability, reinforcing the responsibility of individuals and businesses in maintaining public health standards.
