In a moving and historic event, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Wednesday honoured Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO) Joy Ameyibor Ayim with a grand Pull-Out Ceremony at the Volta Regional Headquarters to mark his retirement and 60th birthday.

The ceremony — the first of its kind in the Volta Region — celebrated DCFO Ayim’s remarkable career of over 35 years marked by unwavering dedication, discipline, and leadership.

The event drew high-profile dignitaries, colleagues, and loved ones in a show of deep appreciation for a man widely regarded as a pillar of the Fire Service.

In a symbolic passing of the torch, DCFO Ayim officially handed over the administrative and operational command of the Volta Region to Assistant Chief Fire Officer I Freeman Tetteh, the substantive Deputy Regional Commander.

The occasion was graced by top personalities, including DCFO James Owusu Agyei, who represented the Chief Fire Officer, the Director of Rural Fires, and Volta Regional Minister James Gunu, along with members of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC).

Regional Commanders from the Oti and Eastern Regions, senior officers from Cape Coast, Tema, and Swedru, as well as Course and Cadet Intake mates, family, and friends, were also in attendance to pay tribute to DCFO Ayim’s legacy.

The colourful event featured traditional pageantry, heartfelt tributes, and the presentation of glowing citations and parting gifts, highlighting DCFO Ayim’s professionalism, compassion, and service to the nation.

 

Described by many as a man of humility and integrity, DCFO Ayim was celebrated for his role in shaping the Fire Service in the region and mentoring a new generation of officers.

The emotional ceremony served as a fitting farewell to a man whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the Ghana National Fire Service.
