The Jasikan Diocesan Youth Council (JADYC) has strongly condemned a violent attack on Catholic priests in Nkwanta on December 11, 2024.

The incident involved priests from the Kpassa Catholic Church, sparking outrage within the Catholic community and beyond.

In a press release, JADYC described the attack as a “senseless act of brutality” and called for immediate action to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Council expressed deep concern over the targeting of clergy, emphasizing the Catholic Church’s role as a “beacon of peace, love, and compassion.”

“We urge the authorities to act swiftly to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, particularly the clergy,” the statement read.

The Council also appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands, urging all parties to allow the legal process to address the matter.

JADYC further echoed calls from the National Peace Council for restraint and peaceful resolution, emphasizing the need for unity and justice.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the entire Catholic community in Ghana.

May God bring healing, comfort, and peace to all those affected,” the statement concluded.
