New NSA board urged to deliver on mandate and tackle 'ghost names'

The newly sworn-in governing board of the National Service Authority (NSA) has been tasked with reshaping the institution and steering its growth in line with national priorities.
At the swearing-in ceremony, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, called on the board members to execute their duties with integrity and commitment, noting that President John Dramani Mahama has placed high expectations on their leadership.
“As new board members, I entrust you with the significant responsibility of reshaping the Authority and guiding its strategic growth to the level envisioned by the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama,” the Minister stated.
“This board carries high expectations, and I am confident that you will rise to the occasion.”
Mr. Opare Addo also charged the board with addressing persistent administrative challenges, particularly the issue of ghost names on the Authority’s payroll.
He commended the NSA for recent efforts that led to the removal of about 2,000 ghost names, describing it as a step in the right direction toward ensuring financial accountability.
The new board is expected to drive reforms aimed at enhancing the efficiency, transparency, and relevance of the National Service Scheme, which plays a critical role in national development through youth engagement and workforce readiness.
The board is chaired by Okai Mintah.
