New TDC boss uncovers alleged land-grabbing scandal involving Ofori-Atta's family in Tema Community 24

The newly appointed Managing Director of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC), Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, has uncovered what appears to be a questionable land transaction involving individuals reportedly connected to Ofori-Atta's family.
The revelation follows an internal audit launched by Mr. Nunekpeku shortly after he assumed office.
The audit uncovered irregularities in land allocations that occurred during the tenure of his predecessor, Alice Abena Ofori-Atta, sparking calls for further investigation.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing in Tema, Mr. Nunekpeku confirmed that some of the lands in Tema Community 24 had been sold to persons linked to the Ofori-Atta family—raising serious concerns about potential abuse of office.
More troubling, he disclosed that several plots were allocated to fictitious entities or so-called "ghost" companies.
These discoveries have since been referred to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), which is expected to begin a full-scale investigation into the transactions.
In addition, Mr. Nunekpeku revealed that he had received a formal petition from both the senior and junior staff unions of TDC.
The petition cited the unauthorized sale of lands originally reserved for staff housing projects.
He assured employees that their concerns are being addressed and vowed to recover all affected lands. "We are taking the necessary steps to right these wrongs.
Staff welfare and transparency will be key priorities during my tenure," he said.
The development marks a bold start to Mr. Nunekpeku's leadership at TDC, as he seeks to restore accountability and protect public assets under the corporation’s care.
