Parliament to reconvene at AICC Oct. 15
Parliament is scheduled to resume on Tuesday, 15 October 2024.
The House will reconvene in an unexpected venue, the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The relocation is due to ongoing renovations in Parliament’s main chamber, prompting the temporary shift for the fifth meeting of the fourth session.
Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin confirmed the change in a statement issued on Monday, 30 September 2024, informing Members of Parliament (MPs) that the House would continue its legislative duties at the AICC while the chamber undergoes repairs.
During a recent two-day emergency session at the Dome, Parliament approved a USD250 million loan from the World Bank to bolster the Ghana Energy Sector Recovery Programme.
The loan, previously rejected before the recess, was a key reason for recalling MPs on Tuesday, 3 September 2024.
This financial support is critical to stabilising Ghana's energy sector, which has faced significant challenges in recent years.
The loan will help the government implement reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency and energy supply across the country.
