Ransford Abbey concludes nationwide tour of Cocoa regions with final stop in Volta Region

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr. Ransford Abbey, has concluded his maiden nationwide tour of Ghana’s seven cocoa-producing regions with a final visit to the Volta Region.
As part of the final leg of his tour, Dr. Abbey visited Bowiri Kyeraheni in the Hohoe District, where he engaged directly with members of cocoa farmer cooperatives.
He also visited the farm of a young cocoa farmer, reaffirming his commitment to gaining firsthand insights into the opportunities and challenges within the cocoa sector.
While in the region, Dr. Abbey paid a courtesy call on Togbega Gabusu VII, the Paramount Chief of the Gbi Traditional Area, and interacted with staff at the COCOBOD Volta Regional Office.
Reflecting on the entire tour, Dr. Abbey expressed his appreciation to cocoa farmers across the country for their hospitality and continued dedication to sustaining Ghana’s cocoa industry.
“The insights gathered from these engagements will be crucial in shaping COCOBOD’s policies and strategies aimed at improving the welfare of our hardworking farmers and promoting sustainable cocoa farming practices,” he stated.
According to him, the tour is expected to pave the way for farmer-centred reforms and renewed investment in the cocoa value chain to strengthen Ghana’s position as a global cocoa leader.
