A/R: COVID-19 kills 361 – Reg. Health Dir.
Some 361 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in the Ashanti Region out of the 20,170 cases recorded.
The Regional Health Director, Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang, told the media at a press conference today, Monday, 30 August 2021 that 327 new cases have been recorded between 2 July and 27 August 2021.
He said out of 341 active cases in the region, 323 are being managed at home while 18 are on admission at treatment centres.
Dr Tenkorang said out of those on admission, one is in critical condition, eight are severe cases, two moderate and seven mild.
Dr Tenkorang said the region has received 70,300 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to embark on the vaccination exercise.
He said the vaccination exercise will start on September 1, and end on September 5, 2021.
He added that the health workers and those who have taken their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be vaccinated.
Meanwhile, as of 24 August 2021, the total fatality toll stood at 1,008.
