A/R: Police evict squatters from GACL land in Asokore Mampong

Armed police officers were deployed to Sepe in the Asokore Mampong Municipality today, Thursday, 15 August 2024, to enforce a court order evicting squatters from a large tract of land owned by the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL).
The land, which is strategically located near the Agenda 111 Hospital project site, has been occupied for years by truck drivers, mechanics, and other residents who erected temporary structures, including makeshift homes and church buildings.
Despite being served eviction notices by the GACL as far back as February, many of these squatters, including families with young children, have continued to live and work on the property.
During the demolition exercise, the scene turned chaotic, with families scrambling to gather their belongings while bailiffs, under the protection of armed police, moved to clear the area.
The suddenness of the operation has left many residents in a state of shock and uncertainty.
