Global health leaders applaud President Mahama’s leadership at Africa Health Sovereignty Summit

President John Dramani Mahama has been widely praised by global health leaders for his decisive leadership in advancing healthcare financing and strengthening health commodity security across Africa.
The commendation came as Accra plays host to the Africa Health Sovereignty Summit, a high-level gathering of health ministers, policymakers, development partners, and experts focused on improving Africa’s capacity to finance and manage its healthcare systems independently.
At the summit, speakers lauded President Mahama’s longstanding commitment to health sector development and his bold policy initiatives that have helped shape conversations around sustainable health financing and local production of medical commodities on the continent.
President Mahama, who is participating in the summit, reaffirmed the urgent need for African nations to reduce dependency on external aid and build resilient, self-sustaining health systems.
The Africa Health Sovereignty Summit is expected to produce a strategic roadmap aimed at achieving greater autonomy in healthcare delivery across the continent, including enhancing domestic financing, boosting pharmaceutical manufacturing, and improving emergency preparedness.
