Mahama’s campaign enthusiasm not artificial -NDC

Mr Mahdi Jibril, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has emphasized that the enthusiasm shown by Ghanaians towards former President John Mahama is genuine.
He stated that people voluntarily come out to meet Mahama and share their grievances, contrasting this with the busing practices of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during campaign events of the party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.
In an interview on Accra 100.5 FM's Ghana Yensom morning show with host Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman on Friday, June 14, 2024, Mr Jibril accused the NPP of busing people to meet Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during his tour of the Ashanti Region.
He claimed that the NDC does not need to bus supporters, as the public's support for Mahama is spontaneous and heartfelt.
Mr Jibril attributed the widespread enthusiasm for Mahama's campaign to the dissatisfaction with the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.
He noted that individuals who previously criticized Mahama are now expressing regret and apologizing to him on the campaign trail.
"The enthusiasm is organic, arising from the mismanagement of the country by the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration," Jibril said.
He encouraged NDC supporters to focus on promoting Mahama's campaign and ignore distractions from their political opponents.
"Let the candidate who is dancing off-beat continue dancing off-beat," he added
