Network challenges frustrate COVID vaccination exercise

Health News
The vaccination exercise is for those taking their second AstraZeneca dose

Network challenges have marred the ongoing AstraZeneca vaccination exercise against the COVID-19 pandemic at some centres in the Kumasi metropolis of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, 1 September 2021.

People were seen stranded at the centres due to network challenges.

Some of the affected centres include Adum Children’s Hospital, Kejetia Anwiam Hospital and KMA Clinic among others.

The Disease Control Officer at the Adum Children’s Hospital, Mr Boakye Yiadom Alex, told Kumasi FM's Elisha Adarkwah that they had not vaccinated anybody as of 10 am despite starting at 7 am due to the network problem.

Meanwhile, some eleven more COVID-19 patients died between August 26 and 27, taking the fatality toll to 1,039, the latest figures from the Ghana Health Service have indicated.

Within that period, 482 new cases were confirmed.

The total active caseload is currently 7,151.

Of that number, 55 are in critical condition and 141 severe.

Since mid-March 2020, a total of 119,436 cases have been confirmed.

Out of that, 111,249 have recovered.
