New MoH advisory board inaugurated to drive Ghana's healthcare agenda
In a significant step towards reforming the nation's healthcare system, members of the Ministerial Advisory Board for the Ministry of Health(MoH) were sworn in on Tuesday, with a clear mandate to help achieve the country's ambitious health goals.
During the ceremony, the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, charged the newly appointed members to embrace a spirit of collaboration and shared purpose.
He underscored that the complex challenges within the health sector demand nothing less than coordinated and forward-thinking solutions.
Outlining the government's core health vision, the Minister highlighted the twin pillars of its strategy: a set of three primary healthcare policies designed to pave the way for Universal Health Coverage (UHC), and the "Mahama Cares" programme, which aims to decentralise and expand access to specialist medical services nationwide.
"The success of our mission—to expand access, improve quality, and ensure financial protection for every Ghanaian—depends on your collective wisdom and guidance," the Minister stated.
He called on the board to provide critical insights to help strengthen health systems, advance digital health innovations, and ensure equitable health outcomes for all citizens.
Expressing his confidence in the newly formed body, the Minister added that the board's expertise will be instrumental in translating policy into tangible impact and building a resilient health system for future generations.
