Patriotic Muslim Front endorses mandatory Hajj medical screening for 2026 pilgrims
The Patriotic Muslim Front (PMF) has expressed full support for the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana’s (POAG) recent directive requiring all prospective pilgrims for Hajj 2026 to undergo mandatory medical examinations and certification.
In a statement signed by Mr. Iddrisu Abdullai Alhassan, PMF noted that the policy, aligned with new guidelines from the Saudi Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, adding that is a proactive measure aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of Ghanaian pilgrims.
The organisation emphasised that the exercise is not intended to prevent anyone from performing the sacred pilgrimage but to ensure a safe and secure journey for all participants.
“The Hajj is spiritually profound but physically demanding.
Mandatory pre-screening enables Saudi health authorities to plan and allocate medical resources effectively, while also allowing pilgrims to manage their health optimally before and during the journey,” the statement read.
The PMF highlighted the dual benefits of the screening process: providing personalised medical guidance for pilgrims and assisting Saudi authorities in preparing comprehensive health facilities and emergency response measures for the Ghanaian contingent and other pilgrims worldwide.
The organisation commended POAG and the Ghana Hajj Medical Team for establishing a structured, confidential, and nationwide process.
PMF urged prospective pilgrims, Hajj agents, community Imams, and stakeholders to cooperate fully with accredited medical centres and adhere to scheduled appointments to ensure a smooth process.
“We pray that Almighty Allah grants all prospective pilgrims sound health, acceptance, and a successful Hajj,” the statement concluded.
