The Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital) has the next three days to settle its GH¢42 million power bill with the Electricity Company of Ghana or risk taken off the national grid.

The National Taskforce of the Electricity Company of Ghana has posted a notice at the hospital to that effect.

The amount covers power consumed by the facility for more than a year 

During ECG's visit to the hospital, the health post's management clarified that they were not responsible for bill payments. 

They directed the state power distributor to the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Health.

The Ridge Hospital is among 91 health facilities that owe hefty amounts in bills to the ECG, which plans to cut their power supply.

These hospitals owe a total of GHc261 million to the state power distributor.

ECG warned recently that the power cuts will happen 48 hours after the hospitals receive a warning.

 

Facilities like the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and 37 Military Hospital are among those at risk of losing electricity supply from the national grid.

 

The company explains that it needs to get the money it is owed so it can keep running smoothly.
