2024 polls: Akufo-Addo's driver, who donated office complex to NPP, elected party's La Dadekotopon candidate
Mr Joseph Addo, who has been President Nana Akufo-Addo's driver for over two decades, has secured the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) parliamentary candidacy for La Dadekotopon, polling 664 votes against his main rival, Solomon Kotey Niikio, who garnered 555 votes.
The NPP's National Executive Committee authorised a primary in the constituency following the resignation of the previously elected candidate, Dr. Gerald Joseph Tetteh. Mr Addo's candidacy follows his expressed intention to contest after Dr Tetteh's departure.
Mr Addo donated an office complex on Ako Adjei Road to the party, addressing the absence of a permanent headquarters, which had previously forced party executives to operate from rented premises.
This move, according to Mr Addo, aims to bolster the party's efforts to reclaim the constituency from the NDC, which secured the seat in the 2020 elections.
