#2024Polls: EC asserts mandate to declare final results informed by pink sheets

The Electoral Commission (EC) has underlined it is the only body with the mandate to declare the real results for the 2024 general elections.
The EC said in an update on social media, Sunday, December 8, “the pink sheets generated from the 40,650 polling stations signed by the presiding officer and party agents will determine the final results”
A day after the polls, the EC said it “had not received any results at the National Collation Centre” as of 8:00 AM, Sunday, as “the results are trickling in to the Regional Collation Centres”.
“The commission will publish the results once they are received,” it assured.
The communication follows the Vice President, and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, conceding defeat and congratulating former President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the president-elect.
There are spontaneous celebrations on the streets of the capital in response to the NDC's performance at the polls.
