#2024Polls: NDC challenges EC over re-collation of parliamentary results
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns about the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to re-collate parliamentary results in some constituencies without a court order.
According to the party, such actions violate Ghana's electoral laws under C.I. 127.
In a statement released on Thursday, December 13, 2024, and signed by the party's Director of Elections and IT, Dr Edward Omane Boamah emphasized that parliamentary results already declared and collated can only be revisited through a court order.
The party further declared that any re-collation conducted without judicial approval would be deemed illegal and unacceptable.
“The only way to re-collate results after declaration is through the courts.
This point of law renders the EC's re-collation process unlawful, and the incoming NDC government will not entertain such actions,” the statement read.
The NDC also called on its supporters to remain vigilant and continue monitoring the Electoral Commission and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
The statement clarified that the party distinguishes between constituencies where collation was yet to be completed and those where results had already been declared.
It urged the EC to uphold the rule of law and follow due processes in addressing any disputes.
