Several Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Minority Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have retained their seats in the just-ended December 7 general elections.

Prominent among them are Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, and Sam George, MP for Ningo-Prampram.

Other successful incumbents include Yussif Jajah Issaka, MP for Ayawaso North; Emmanuel Bedzrah, MP for Ho West; Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, MP for Ada; Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, Awutu Senya West MP; and Zanetor Rawlings, MP for Klottey-Korle.

While the NDC celebrated these victories, some key members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) suffered defeats in their constituencies.

In the Greater Accra Region, the Minister for Communications, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, lost her seat in the Ablekuma West Constituency to the NDC.

In the Ashanti Region’s Asokwa Constituency, veteran MP K.T. Hammond was unseated by the NDC’s parliamentary candidate.

Similarly, in the Savannah Region, Samuel Abu Jinapor lost his Damongo Constituency seat to the opposition, while in the Central Region’s Awutu Senya East, the incumbent MP Hawa Koomson was defeated by the NDC’s Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor.
