2025 Budget: Let’s ensure our debates are informed by candour and the plight of Ghanaians – Gideon Boako to MPs

Member of Parliament for Tano North, Dr Gideon Boako, has urged his colleagues in Parliament to approach the debate on the 2025 budget with honesty and a strong consideration for the challenges facing Ghanaians.
Speaking during deliberations on the budget statement, he emphasised the need for constructive discussions that prioritise the well-being of the people.
Dr Boako acknowledged the diverse perspectives presented by MPs regarding the budget, describing them as refreshing and essential to democratic discourse.
However, he stressed the importance of ensuring that contributions remain grounded in sincerity and the realities of citizens.
“Mr Speaker, I have listened to colleagues on their views on the budget, and it is refreshing to hear the different shades of argument. But, Mr Speaker, it is important that as we debate the budget, we are conscious of the fact that we are here by virtue of the honour done to us by this country,” he stated.
He reminded lawmakers that their primary duty is to serve the interests of Ghanaians and that the budget debate should reflect the genuine concerns of the people.
He called on MPs to rise above partisanship and engage in discussions that offer practical solutions to the economic difficulties facing the nation.
“We owe it a duty to let our submissions be influenced by candour and the plight of Ghanaians,” he added.
