Akufo-Addo knows NPP is about to lose Dec. 7 polls – Mahama

The flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has suggested that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is bracing for an NPP loss in the upcoming December 7 elections, hinting at a growing acceptance of the ruling party’s declining prospects.
Addressing supporters in Biakoye, Oti Region, on Monday, 4 November 2024, Mr. Mahama pointed to recent statements by the President, interpreting them as an implicit acknowledgment that a power shift may be on the horizon.
At the rally, Mr. Mahama highlighted President Akufo-Addo’s recent assurance of a peaceful transition of power as a sign of readiness to hand over should the NDC win.
“The reason you must vote for the NDC is that we will go after all who have stolen from the public purse.
“Dr. Bawumia cannot hold them accountable. That was why he said he would not hand over power to me,” Mr. Mahama. Stated.
He then referenced Akufo-Addo’s commitment to respecting the election results, seeing it as more than a democratic promise but a reflection of the NPP’s waning influence.
“But recently, I heard him say he will hand over power to whoever wins.
“It is just because he knows that the NPP is about to lose the election. He knows that John Dramani Mahama is coming back to the Jubilee House,” Mr. Mahama said.
